Just over a year ago, we said goodbye to a truly remarkable man — my dad, Stan Norton. He was not only the heart of our family but also an important part of our business at Lawn Doctor and of our local community.
After a long career in banking, Stan joined our company and spent over eight years helping us grow before retiring once again. His steady presence and quiet leadership left a lasting mark that continues to guide us today.
Stan had a lifelong passion for helping those who were hungry or in need. During the holiday season, our family would drop off food on the doorsteps of families in need — ring the doorbell, and run. Those moments became a highlight of our family’s Christmas traditions. For more than a decade, he also chaired the Scouting for Food Drive in Cache County, leading efforts that filled both shelves and hearts — never seeking recognition for his work.
It was during the pandemic, when the annual collections were canceled and the local pantry was in desperate need of donations, that Dad once again found a way to serve. He passed out flyers and posted on Facebook that he would be collecting contributions. He told people to look for his red truck with a sign parked in front of our home, where they could drop off food donations. The truck was filled to the brim. He then personally delivered the donations to the pantry. So many people participated, bringing food, and dropping off envelopes with cash donations. Others made donations through the pantry’s Venmo account.
Later, while serving a mission with my mom in Fayetteville, Arkansas, they volunteered weekly at the St. James Missionary Baptist Church food pantry — continuing their shared commitment to lifting others.
To honor the legacy of compassion and service Stan lived by, we’ve launched the #GIVEaCANforSTAN food drive.

Over the next 6–8 weeks, we’re collecting food donations to benefit the Cache County Food Pantry in Stan’s name. Together, we can continue his work of caring for others and supporting families in need.
The pantry is especially in need of:
Canned goods such as meats, vegetables, soups, and sauces
Baking staples like salt, pepper, sugar, flour, and cake mixes
Every contribution, big or small, makes a real difference for families right here in our community.
